An exhibition highlighting the compassionate efforts to rescue children during World War II by His Highness Sri Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja, Maharaja Jam Saheb of Nawanagar—known as the “Good Maharaja”—was presented at The Jewish Experience in India Through Generations event in Nevatim on November 10, 2025. This event included an unveiling ceremony for the Maharaja’s monument.

His Highness stands as a symbol of humanity, compassion, and courage during one of the darkest periods in history. As World War II ravaged the globe, his actions became a beacon of hope for those in desperate need.

At a time marked by unparalleled cruelty and persecution, the Maharaja extended a lifeline to children—many of them Jewish—fleeing the horrors of war. With deep empathy and a profound sense of responsibility, he welcomed approximately 1,000 Polish children into his palace in Nawanagar. These children, many of whom had lost their families, found refuge, safety, and a renewed sense of future under his protection.
